While it is exciting to look forward to months of enjoyable weather after a particularly frigid winter, spring does introduce some unique challenges for your vehicle. You can best prepare your car for the spring season by following these car maintenance tips.
Change your windshield wipers
You know what they say about April showers and May flowers. The spring brings plenty of rainfall, so you’ll want to ensure that your windshield wipers are in optimal condition before those famous spring showers make their way to the area.
Check on your tires
Winter can be especially rough on your tires. Therefore, you might want to have a professional check on the health of your tires, even rotating them to help share the burden among the tires your vehicle uses. Also, if you install winter tires during the last few months of the year, now is the time to switch back to your regular set of tires.
Top off your vehicle’s fluids
Your vehicle relies on a number of important fluids to function properly. While the weather is that Goldilocks range of not too hot but not too cold, consider taking the time to replenish the liquids your vehicle relies upon.

Tire Safety and Maintenance Tips
Tire problems are responsible for a significant amount of accidents, so paying attention to tire safety is important. Here are some things to watch out for.
Tire problems
These are some common tire problems:
- Inflation issues: Test your tires’ inflation and adjust accordingly.
- Edge wear: Wear on the edges of the tires often means the wheels need to be aligned.
- Erratic wear: This is called cupping and is usually caused by the wheel being out of balance or a problem with the suspension system.
- Raised areas: This can mean that a belt has separated or broken.
- Noises and vibration: If you hear thumping noises or feel vibrations, this means that you have a problem and should have the tires checked. If the car pulls strongly to one side or the other, this is another indication of tire or alignment problems. It’s time to head to the dealership.
Tire maintenance
Regular tire maintenance at a dealership will keep your tires in good working condition. Chandler Chevrolet will even pick your car up and drop it off when it is finished. Schedule these procedures for tire safety:
- Rotation: Having your tires rotated several times a year helps them wear more evenly.
- Balancing: Balancing tires reduces vibration which can wear out your tires.
- Alignment: This should be done whenever you get new tires or if you feel the car pulling to the side.
If you’re not sure whether your tires need maintenance, or simply want to take the hassle out of car care, schedule a service appointment at Chandler Chevrolet in Madison, Indiana. Our service technicians will ensure your tires are in tip-top shape!
If you’re looking at getting a fun-to-drive, intelligent, and family-friendly SUV, the new Chevy Traverse is one of your best bets. Now, it’s an even better choice if you want something that’s also super stylish. The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is adding two popular options to the lineup — the Midnight and Sport Edition.
“Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet,” said Steve Majoros, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “Special editions and unique trims allow us to offer customers the custom look they want straight from the factory. This helps us get more customers interested in our vehicles, which in turn can help Chevrolet grow sales volume, market share and revenue. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
And the Midnight Edition and Sport Edition have certainly proven to be winners for Chevrolet. Both packages are now available on more than half of the Chevy lineup, and about one in every five Trax SUVs sold today features one of the two options.
Both the Midnight Edition and Sport Edition feature details like a black ice grille, black-painted aluminum wheels, black roof rails, and a black bowtie on the grille. The former is a fully stealthy version of the Traverse, pairing those details with a Mosaic Black Metallic exterior hue. The Sport Edition lets you create eye-catching contrast, offering a variety of color options.
However you shake it, the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is a solid choice if you want a three-row SUV that looks as good as it performs. Check out what the new Traverse has to offer when you visit Chandler Chevrolet in Madison, Indiana.
