Chevy Maintenance Tips Blog

Maintaining your Chevy vehicle is an extremely important part of vehicle upkeep. It helps to ensure the longevity of the vehicle while making sure you have a reliable means of transportation for wherever you need to go whether it is for work or recreation. Not having your vehicle maintained can cause the vehicle performance to drop and can thus make the experience of driving the vehicle not as fun as it could be. In this article, we will go over a few maintenance tips for your Chevy so you can enjoy it at the optimal level.
1. Make Sure You Are Getting A Regular Oil Change
To make sure you are properly maintaining your Chevy, you will need to make sure that you are getting a regular oil change. Getting an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or whenever indicated by the manufacturer is important to make sure the engine is working at optimal performance. Also getting the right kind of oil for your vehicle is extremely important to it working at an optimal level. While synthetic oil makers typically do a strong job of advertising their products on television, these may not be ideal for your vehicle’s engine. Instead, your vehicle might need a more basic as opposed to premium oil that works better for all of the unique aspects of your vehicle’s engine.
2. Make Sure You Are Getting Your Tires Rotated
A regular tire rotation gives you a better chance at evening the wear on your tires. This will allow you to get extended life out of your tire and will give you a more balanced performance and execution on the road. Not getting the tires rotated could lead to uneven wear on the tires and can lead to the front tires wearing out extremely fast because that is the set of tires that the braking and accelerating affect the most. By doing this regularly, perhaps when you decide to get an oil change, you will ensure the shelf life of your tires as well as save money by doing so.
3. Check The Air Filter
Popping the hood of your vehicle and checking the air vents and the air filter will help you extend the life of your vehicle and is an important part of its maintenance. While air filters need to be cleaned every 10,000 to 15,000 or whenever the owner’s manual states, failing to clean them can lead to a backed-up engine that has to work twice as hard for half the amount of energetic output. Dirt and debris can be trapped in the air filter and, if left alone for too long, will result in the engine having to work much harder to move the car along.
4. Clean The Exterior and Interior Of The Vehicle
Sure it might sound trite enough but making sure the interior and exterior of your car are cleaned is a very important part of maintaining your vehicle. A trashy interior can lead to an unpleasant driving experience while an exterior that has now been soaped up and washed down in months can make for a very unpleasant sight. In addition to these more surface-level issues, not regularly cleaning your vehicle can cause you to miss out on some more important performance-based issues that you might discover as you are cleaning. A cursory look at the engine as you are trying to wipe away some dust might reveal some issues with the battery compartment. If you are reluctant to clean your car, you can always make a day out of it with your family. As the summer days are still long and hot, cleaning the exterior of your vehicle can provide you with a cool relief from cold water as you wash the vehicle. This can also be a good bonding time for you and your loved ones.
5. Check The Air Pressure
Checking your tire air pressure every once in a while ensures that you are driving on tires that are adequately equipped for the road. If they are underinflated, you risk your engine having to work much harder. If they are overinflated, you risk your tires rupturing if it crosses paths with a sharp object.
Hopefully, these five maintenance tips for your Chevy will keep save you a trip to your local dealership. If it doesn’t, no worries. Our doors are always open. Just contact us to schedule an appointment today.

4 Tips for Saving Fuel in SUVs

SUVs are great cars for families like yours with busy day-to-day lives. If you have an SUV, you probably drive it frequently, dropping and picking your kids up from school, going to work, getting groceries, chauffeuring to rehearsals and practices, and more. These tips will help you save fuel in your family-friendly SUV.
Accelerate gently
The harder you press on the gas, the more fuel you use. Gently depress the accelerator until you have reached your target speed, and you will start to notice better fuel efficiency.
Drive at steady speeds
The more your speed fluctuates throughout a journey, the more fuel you have to burn and the more your efficiency suffers. Features such as cruise control can help you maintain a certain speed and improve your MPG.
You can also use gravity to your advantage. Slow down while going uphill, and then let your vehicle recapture momentum while rolling downhill.
Think ahead
Make sure you are always following the fastest route and anticipate the day’s traffic. The less you sit in traffic, the more mileage you will get from your gas.
Don’t idle
Idling can be a needless usage of fuel. If you don’t need to keep the car running for longer than 30 seconds, turn it off and reap the efficiency benefits.

The Chevy Silverado competed alongside the Colorado ZR2 in the Laughlin Desert Classic, an off-road race that takes place during the Best in the Desert Racing Series in Laughlin, NV.
This is the first time the Chevy Silverado has competed in a race. Before the Best in the Desert series, the only truck Chevy had raced was the Colorado, using the ZR2 model in off-road competitions. Chevy plans to enter the Silverado in six races in the series in 2020.
To develop the off-road Chevy Silverado used in the Laughlin Desert Classic, Chevy started with a Silverado LT Trail Boss that you can buy at Chandler Chevrolet. The production model comes with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that puts out 420 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
For the race, Chevy added a new suspension developed for long travel, high-capacity dampers, and special shocks, along with 35-inch tires designed for off-roading and skid plates that cover essential underbody parts.
The special dampers, called Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers, or DSSV dampers, were originally used on the Colorado ZR2 and greatly improved the Colorado’s performance during off-road racing. Chevy increased their size for the Silverado for the race.
If you want a truck that you can take off-roading, check out the Colorado or Silverado at Chandler Chevrolet.
2020 Silverado Special Editions: Midnight & Rally

Chevrolet has announced two 2020 Silverado 1500 special editions that will add style and power. Here is a look at both of them.
Midnight Edition
The Midnight Edition paints everything black for the boldest look a Silverado can get. The grille, exhaust tips, bumpers, side steps, and badges all get dipped in ink, turning the truck into a shadow on wheels.
The upgrades don’t stop with looks. The Midnight Edition features a substantial 2-inch suspension lift and contains performance upgrades from the Z71 Off-Road Package, including automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, legendary Rancho mono-tube shocks, and of course black-painted 18-inch wheels with Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.
The Midnight Edition is available on the LT, Trail Boss, and Custom Trail Boss trims.
Rally Edition
For more pop, the Rally Edition splashes color among bold black accents. Choose from black, white, silver, or Red Hot. Regardless, the body color is visible on the special edition’s grille. The hood receives wicked black stripes that mirror the tailgate. Plus, the badges, side steps, and exhaust tips are all painted black. Wheel upgrades are either 20-inch black wheels or 22-inch wheels, depending on your chosen trim level.
You can start placing your orders for the special edition 2020 Chevrolet Silverados at Chandler Chevrolet, with deliveries starting before the end of the year.
