Trunk or treat is a great alternative to trick-or-treating, since it’s in a smaller, controlled environment and it’s usually organized by a trustworthy group. If you’re participating in a trunk or treat gathering this Halloween, consider these useful trunk or treat tips to make your car the best in the lot.

Theme and Setting
The most fun part of trunk or treat is picking a theme for your trunk that goes with your costume. If your daughter is going as Alice, make your trunk look like Wonderland. If they’re a superhero, style it like a cityscape.

Special Snacks
Obviously, you’ll be passing out candy to all the kids at your local trunk or treat, but why not add something extra? Come up with a special snack or drink that matches your theme, like a green punch in a witch’s cauldron.

Games
Trunk or treat is more than just dressing up and getting candy – it’s a mini-festival where everyone will be in one place hanging out. Keep the kids entertained by bringing games or even incorporating a game into your trunk or treat theme, like a fishing game for your underwater venue.

Music
Complete your theme with a matching soundtrack. It could be the soundtrack to a related movie or just a compilation of songs you put together that fit your theme. Either way, it adds great atmosphere to your setup and makes it more fun for the kids.

Corvette C8

The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette has finally been unveiled and it changes everything.

Until now, every Corvette has had its engine in the front, but the new 2020 C8 features a mid-engine design. Putting the engine directly behind passengers increases power to the rear wheels, drastically improves visibility, and creates better forward downforce. Besides just an ideal location, the all-new 6.2L LT2 V8 provides 490 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque for 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds.

The new design is not just about the power. The new C8 only has one design element remaining from the last generation, meaning it’s all new. Some of the new features include new storage options, including hood storage and spacious trunk cargo room. The Front Lift feature raises the Corvette 2 inches in just a few seconds to give clearance to speed bumps or low obstacles. And the 12-inch reconfigurable digital instrument display puts information right where you need it including Trip Computer and Tire Status.

The latest Corvette’s interior mimics the sleek, aerodynamic design of the exterior. Racecar-inspired seats come wrapped in premium leather-appointments, and climate controls run in a space-like vertical line next to the Driver Mode Selector that creates perfectly balanced drive experiences.

It is a Corvette that will stand out in the history of the model. You can purchase their own in early 2020. Contact us at Chandler Chevrolet for more information!

Chevy Truck

If you’re looking for strong capabilities and family-friendly comforts in one vehicle, you’re in luck. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado are two of the top trucks for family travel. Just ask the experts at U.S. News & World Report, who recently released a list of the best trucks for families.

In order to make the list, trucks had to meet certain standards for family comfort and convenience. U.S. News editors were looking for trucks that had good safety ratings and safety features, generous passenger and cargo space, and easy to use in-cabin technology.

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is a midsize pickup, which makes it a good option for families who want something slightly more compact. Its cabin is comfortable, spacious, and filled with advanced technology, and its lineup of strong engines delivers a wide range of capability. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the well-equipped model an overall safety rating of four out of five stars.

For families that need extra capability, U.S. News recommends the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. This full-size truck was just redesigned, and now offers more cabin space than competitors, plus convenient storage, convenient family-friendly features, and available advanced safety tools, like blind spot monitoring, Teen Driver mode, front pedestrian braking, and lane change alert.

Chevy Car

When asked what they look for in a new car, millennials answered – great value, useful features, and excellent overall quality and dependability. That might explain why millennials prefer Chevrolet over every single other automotive brand in the U.S., according to a new study.

The study, from Autolist, ranked Chevrolet as the top brand amongst millennials – drivers born between roughly 1981 and 1996. When conducting the study, Autolist asked millennial drivers which brand of car appealed most to their age group. The clear winner was Chevrolet, which took the top spot over runners-up Ford, Honda, BMW, and Toyota.

Autolist’s chief analyst, Chase Disher, speculates that Chevrolet’s penchant for “Real People, Not Actors” style of advertising is likely a key contributor to the popularity of Chevrolet amongst millennials. Disher also noted that Chevrolet vehicles are “no-nonsense” and affordable, making them even more appealing to millennial drivers, who are typically budget-conscious and in search of the best overall value.

The adoption of next-generation technologies like Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi also seem to contribute to the brand’s popularity amongst younger drivers who prioritize connectivity in addition to things like comfort and safety.

Visit Chandler Chevrolet to see why Chevrolet is such a top-rated brand.

Spring weather is rolling in, and that means it’s a great time to find a few games for warm weather. Whether you’re children are young or teenagers, playing games is a great way to get outdoors after a long winter!
Scavenger hunt
A scavenger hunt can provide hours of entertainment with little preparation on your side. All you have to do is create a list, hide items, and send the kids on their way. If your yard isn’t big enough to play host to a scavenger hunt, head to the local park. You may even be able to divide kids into teams and get more parents involved, too.
Hide-and-seek
Hide-and-seek is a traditional game once spring time rolls around. The game is fairly simple and hasn’t changed much over the years. Every kid except for one hides, and the one left counts to a certain number. Once he reaches the number, it’s time to seek!
Capture the flag
If you’ve got a large group of children in the park, try a game of capture the flag. Each team hides a respective object. The goal is to “capture” the opposing side’s flag or hidden item and get it back to home base safely.
With spring in the air, now is the perfect time to schedule a car maintenance check at Chandler Chevrolet.

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and with it comes an array of myths and legends that children and adults alike know and love. This includes tales of leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of a rainbow. Before you set off in search of riches, let’s shed some light on the history of this fascinating legend, which involves a bit of real history and science.

Legends about pots of gold buried at the ends of rainbows originate from long ago. Vikings invaded Ireland in 795 AD, and were known for looting and burying gold and other treasures in undisclosed locations. The legend of pots of gold began when they eventually departed the shores of Ireland, leaving some of their stolen gold behind.

Folklore depicts leprechauns as mistrustful creatures who detest humans. According to legend, leprechauns found the abandoned gold and buried it again so no human could ever find it. The old folktales tell us that there is a pot of gold hidden where the end of any rainbow touches the earth. Unfortunately, science tells us that rainbows do not have an end since their arch shape is an illusion! Rainbows are actually full circles reflected from raindrops, which we can normally only see when we are up very high, in an airplane or on a mountain. Rainbows also seem to move farther away from us as we move toward them (also due to their illusory nature) making for some frustrated treasure seekers!

If you are treasure seeking, contact us at Chandler Chevrolet. We can’t promise you success, but we can help you find the perfect vehicle for your travels no matter how far!

Madison, Indiana was home to a booming steamboat port and Indiana’s first railroad
Beautiful Madison, Indiana, established more than two centuries ago, is a perfect blend of old and new. Founded in 1809 along the Ohio River, Madison featured a buzzing steamboat port and was the very first stop on Indiana’s first railroad. Its easy river and train access attracted large commerce and industry and led to an economic boom in the mid-nineteenth century. At that time Madison, Indiana rivalled the growth of large cities such as Indianapolis and New Albany.

Madison, Indiana: an important link in the Underground Railroad

Madison’s easy access to the Ohio River also made it, like other riverside towns, a link to the Underground Railroad. Our town was home to many important historical figures such as Elijah Anderson, William Anderson, and George DeBaptiste. These freedom fighters lived in the Georgetown District of downtown Madison and played an important role in the formation of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The church, now owned by Historic Madison, Inc., is a historically documented link in the Underground Railroad. The building has been renovated and is located on East 5th Street in downtown, Madison.

Madison, Indiana in the movies
Madison, Indiana has more than one tie to Hollywood. The actress Irene Dunne, who starred in 42 movies and was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, spent part of her youth here. Her family’s home, as well as her grandparents’ home, are located on West 2nd Street.  Madison was also the backdrop for the Hollywood film “Some Came Running”, starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Shirley MacClaine. In 2001 the movie “Madison”, which centered around the hydroplane Gold Cup race that has become an annual tradition here, was filmed on location on the Ohio River. The movie starred Jake Lloyd, Jim Caviezel, Mary McCormack, Paul Dooley, and Bruce Dern, and featured many local residents as extras.

When you visit Madison, Indiana, make sure you stop by Chandler Chevrolet for all your car-related needs. We’re a locally owned and family operated business that supports important causes, events, schools, and organizations in Madison and its surrounding communities!
